A Checklist for Deep Cleaning Your Cabinets

a-checklist-for-deep-cleaning-your-cabinets

Keeping your cabinets clean and organized is important to the overall look and feel of your kitchen. To help expand the lifespan of your kitchen cabinets and keep them in good shape, we suggest a deep cleaning for your kitchen cabinets at least once a month. If you’re not sure where to start or what to do, here’s a deep cleaning checklist for you to follow along.

Deep Cleaning Your Kitchen Cabinets

You more than likely wipe down your countertops to help keep your kitchen clean each day, but when was the last time you cleaned your kitchen cabinets? Since the kitchen is one of the most used rooms in many homes, they can accumulate grime, grease, dirt, and more just as easily as your countertops do. Not only can you see the gunk build up overtime, but you could be harboring dangerous food-borne illnesses like salmonella. The Spruce explains, “bacteria like salmonella can easily contaminate cabinet handles and knobs. Grime and old food particles have no business building up inside the place we store the items we put our food on…” and we agree! While kitchen cabinets need a simple wipe down each day, they also need a good deep cleaning every once in a while.

Your Cabinet Cleaning Checklist

If you’re not sure of how often you should clean what, here’s a handy list to keep around.

Everyday:

- To help bigger messes from developing overtime, try and wipe up spills and grease splashes each time you cook

Each week:

- Wipe down any spills or grime that might have been splashed onto the cabinets while cooking each day that week

– Wash off drawer fronts

– Sanitize knobs and cabinet handles

Each month:

- Give the interior of your cabinets a deep clean, start with vacuuming to remove larger bits of food or dirt, and then wipe down with soap and warm water

– Empty all dinnerware, appliances, and pantry items from the shelves and wipe down each shelf one by one

Every other month:

- Move appliances as you’re able and wipe down the sides of the cabinets you can reach. You’ll be surprised at how much food and dirt can accumulate on the sides of the cabinets that sit next to your stove and refrigerator

The Best Cleaning Agents

You probably have different multipurpose cleaners on hand, or right now during COVID-19, heavy-duty cleaners like bleach, but do you know what’s best to use on your kitchen cabinets? The wood on cabinets can be sensitive to harsh cleaners. If you have wood cabinets, the DIY Network recommends a 50/50 solution of vinegar and warm water put into a spray bottle. Once mixed, gently mist onto your cabinets and let sit for up to two minutes before wiping with a microfiber cloth. If you have lots of built up grime and grease, they suggest adding a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent to help cut through the grease.

Cabinet Refinishing

If your cabinets have undoubtedly seen better days, consider refinishing your kitchen cabinets with Summit Cabinet Coatings. Our refinishing process is budget-friendly and doesn’t take longer than a week. Not only will it not break the bank, but you’ll be able to continue using your kitchen the entire time. If you’re still not convinced, here’s the quick and easy process broken down into two easy steps:

On-site

We will spend the first 2-3 days in your kitchen coating the cabinet frames. We begin by removing the cabinet doors and drawers and taping off your entire kitchen. After that’s completed, we then wash, hand-sand, prime, repair blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish onto the exterior surfaces of the cabinet frames.

Off-site

Then, at our shop, we will put the doors and drawer fronts through the same stages of preparation to give them a durable, furniture-grade finish. Each piece will receive three coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings, applied in our contaminant-free spray booth.

Once completed, we then return to your kitchen to reinstall the doors and drawer fronts, as well as any new knobs or handles that you wanted to replace.

2020’s Top Kitchen Design Trends

2020s-Top-Kitchen-Design-Trends

Have you ever wondered if your kitchen or home is on trend with what’s popular? A trend is defined by Market Business News as being a general direction into which something is changing, developing, or veering toward. If you’re wondering what’s popular in America’s kitchens these days, we’re here to walk you through some of the year’s top design trends so far. From adding statement pieces to incorporating sleek details, here’s what’s popular in kitchens in 2020.

Top Kitchen Trends

Many people choose to update their kitchens every few years to keep the value of their homes up. This doesn’t mean replacing your appliances and ripping out cabinets, but updating color schemes, knobs, and similar items is sometimes all it takes to keep your kitchen up to trend each year .Elle Decor has compiled a list of the top kitchen trends of 2020. Keep reading to see if your kitchen fits in with current trends.

Contrasting countertops

Not everything in your kitchen has to match. A popular trend this year is having a contrasting countertop to your cabinetry. For example, adding a dark countertop can help dramatize your kitchen, Elle says, and add sophistication and a level of warmth to your cooking space.

Cool colors

Colors that are cool in tone are popular because they can add color without it being too much for your liking. Cool colors like light blue are also a good way to make your space feel light and bright. If you want to feel like you’re in a beach house when you’re in your kitchen, incorporate a cool color scheme!

Colorful backsplashes

We love this trend. Adding a colorful backsplash is a fun way to update your kitchen without doing a full renovation. Elle explains that though people may feel like they’re taking risks with the colors, this is the best way to add a pop of color in your kitchen.

Unexpected color pops

If you don’t want to commit to a loud backsplash, adding unexpected pops of color elsewhere might be best for you. Adding color in random places like your seat cushions or your smaller appliances is a fun way to brighten things up.

Sleek cabinetry

More and more people are opting for cleaner cabinets that aren’t too decorative or over the top. Sleek cabinets are one of the top trends of 2020. The best part is you don’t have to fully rip out your cabinets and start from scratch. Summit Cabinet Coatings can give you the sleek cabinet look using the cabinets you already have in your kitchen.

Refinishing Kitchen Cabinets

The kitchen of your dreams begins with the kitchen you already have. If your dream is to have sleek cabinets and be more on par with what people are loving in 2020, all you might need to do is simply refinish your kitchen cabinets.

With our non-intrusive kitchen cabinet refinishing method, kitchens remain clean and usable throughout the week. We only spend two to three days in your home, and the rest of the process is done in our shop. This means you can enjoy normal life while the kitchen undergoes a quick transformation!

The total refinishing process takes three to five business days, and is done in two simple steps: on-site and off-site.

ON-SITE: During this beginning stage, we start in your kitchen coating the cabinet frames. We start by taking the existing cabinet doors and drawers off the frames and taping off the entire kitchen. After we tape off the kitchen, we then wash, hand-sand, prime, repair cracks and blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish on all exterior surfaces of the cabinet frames.

OFF-SITE: Next, we will take the doors and drawer fronts to our shop to go through the same process. All the pieces will receive three coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings applied in our contaminant-free spray booth. Once finished, we return to your home to reinstall these pieces and update any knobs or handles you’d like replaced as well.

If that doesn’t get your kitchen cabinets as sleek as you want them, we also offer completely new cabinet doors and drawers for our clients who want to change styles or eliminate grain completely. This option combines the advantages of refinishing with the benefits of refacing, but at a much cheaper cost.

Get on Trend with Summit Cabinet Coatings

Our approach to refinishing is durable, convenient, cost-effective, and produces the appearance of brand new cabinets. If you want that sleek, 2020 feel, contact our team at Summit Cabinet Coatings to get started now: (970)-282-9856.

How to Modernize Your Kitchen is 5 Easy Steps

how-to-modernize-your-kitchen-is-5-easy-steps

We all know time flies, and before you know it your once-updated kitchen quickly becomes an outdated room. However, there are easy ways to update and modernize your kitchen to get it back to a lively space that reflects what your style is like now. If your kitchen is feeling a little outdated, and you’re craving something a little more modern, here are 5 easy ways to modernize your kitchen!

5 Easy Ways to Modernize Your Kitchen

1.Replace door and drawer knobs

This is a quick and cost effective way to give your kitchen a lift. If you think about it, the handles on our cabinets and drawers are some of the most-touched surfaces in our kitchen. Due to this, they can easily become dirty and dull. Additionally, if it’s been a while since they were replaced, they might not have that sleek modern feel that you’re looking for. If you’re interested in modern handles, check out these options on Wayfair

2.Increase lighting

Adding light instantly makes your kitchen look bigger and brighter. Not only that, but it’s also important for safety reasons to have bright lighting in your kitchen. Lighting is important for every aspect of kitchen use, whether you want it bright for entertaining, dim for ambience, or more, there’s plenty of lighting options for you. Family Handyman has several tips for better kitchen lighting, including:

  • Add depth with accents, like using rope lights above cabinets
  • Adding wall sconces to highlight special pieces in your kitchen, like artwork
  • Use track lighting to prevent shadows
  • Glam up with centerpieces, like using a classic chandelier over the center of your kitchen island
  • Add lighting under your shelves

3.Add decor

Adding artwork can instantly make your kitchen feel updated. Additionally, artwork and decor can also help change up the color scheme in your kitchen. Change out your curtains to a different color, update kitchen rugs, add vases with flowers, and more. The options for decor in your kitchen are endless. Get creative!

4.Update appliances

If you use your appliances a lot, it’s no wonder they can become worn and look like they need a little update. Updating your kitchen appliances is also a good way to make your kitchen look more sleek and modern. If you want to keep a tight budget, you don’t have to update your big appliances to make things look modern. Try updating smaller appliances like your coffee pot or toaster to start and go from there. Smaller updates overtime can still accomplish the same goal, and you won’t break the bank!

5.Refinish your cabinets

Sometimes all it takes to make it feel like you’re in a brand new kitchen is to simply update the finish on your kitchen cabinets. Our team here at Summit Cabinet Coatings can do this in under a week’s time. The best part? With our non-intrusive refinishing method, you can still use your kitchen throughout the week. We will only spend two to three days in the home and the rest of the process is done off-site in our shop. This means you can enjoy your normal routines all the while your kitchen is being revamped.

Our process is done in two stages, and only takes 3-5 business days!

STAGE 1: On-site

We will only be in your kitchen for 2-3 days while we coat your cabinet frames. We start by taking off the cabinet doors and drawer fronts and taping off your entire kitchen. Then, we wash, hand-sand, prime, repair cracks and blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish on all the exterior surfaces of the cabinet frames.

STAGE 2: Off-site

During this step, we will take the doors and drawer fronts to our shop and put them through the same stages of preparation. In the end, they will receive three coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings to ensure a durable, furniture-grade finish. Once done, we reinstall in your kitchen and add any updated handles (that you might have decided on in tip #1) to your cabinets and drawers.

Work with Summit Cabinet Coatings

You can easily modernize your kitchen with these tips and our team at Summit Cabinet Coatings. We maintain the highest respect for you and your home and will use great caution while working inside it. We tape off and cover your floors, walls, cabinet interiors, counters and sink, and the surrounding furniture. We also offer new cabinet doors and drawers for our clients who would like to change door styles and/or eliminate grain altogether. This option combines the advantages of cabinet resurfacing with the benefits of cabinet refacing — at a fraction of the cost! Budget-Friendly Tips for Updating Your Kitchen

budget-friendly-tips-for-updating-your-kitchen

This kitchen is the heart of the home, and if you’re like us you spend a lot of time in your kitchen. If you’re getting tired of looking at the same old kitchen each day, here are some budget-friendly tips that will help freshen up your kitchen and give it a bright, new feel – without breaking the bank!

Budget-Friendly Tips for Updating Your Kitchen

You don’t have to wait for the kitchen you love just because you’re on a budget. Rather, there are many small changes you can make to elevate your kitchen and bring it to a space you love and actually want to be in. Here are 7 budget-friendly ways to update your kitchen:

1.Add art

This simple, yet effective, way to update your kitchen doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Finding prints of simple art pieces that you love for cheap online, or at a local store, are easy to frame. Additionally, they also bring color and dimension to your space. If you don’t want to include art in your kitchen, try adding framed photos of your loved ones. Filling up the walls with meaningful pieces that are important to you can transform your space into feeling more comfortable and cozy.

2.Update lighting

Adding light fixtures, like simple lamps or overhead lighting, can brighten up a space and make it feel brand new. You’ll be amazed at how different a space can feel when it goes from dimly lit to a bright space with plenty of light. Better Homes & Gardens mentions that not only does it help with brightening the space, but a well-lit kitchen is also a safety essential in a kitchen. They explain that the key to good kitchen lighting is to rely on a cast of lighting sources and to layer your lights, mixing overall lights, task, accent, and decorative lights with natural light.

3.Refresh your rug

If you have a kitchen runner or rug, you can easily find cheap replacement options at many everyday stores like Target or WalMart. These stores offer cheap, affordable rug options that come in a variety of colors that can instantly give your kitchen the vibe you’re looking for. Whether you want to keep it modern with a black and white rug or opt for a bright, colorful rug as an accent piece, you can’t go wrong!

4.Get organized

Sometimes, all it takes is to give your kitchen a good organization. We recommend using small containers to tidy up places like your pantry or refrigerator. Having an organized kitchen can save you stress and time while you’re cooking because you already know where everything is. Additionally, it also makes the kitchen look far less cluttered, which could be the simple fix your kitchen has been looking for.

5.Update your faucet

If your sink is what needs a little love, you can find cheap faucet replacements that can modernize and update your kitchen space. We recommend you also do this if your faucet hasn’t been replaced in the last two decades. You can find new faucets that range in a variety of styles and colors, from gold to the traditional silver and even matte black.

6.Replace knobs

Like your faucet hardware, you can also replace the cabinet and drawer knobs and handles with budget-friendly options that will instantly make your kitchen feel new. You can find chrome finishes, steel finishes, for knobs that have a lot of character — whatever you’re looking for!

7.Refinish your cabinets

Updating your kitchen cabinets is a quick, effective, and budget-friendly way to refresh your kitchen. This process uses the cabinets you already have in place, so you aren’t put out of your kitchen for weeks at a time, and your bank account doesn’t suffer from fully renovating either.

Here at Summit Cabinet Coatings, our process is quick and simple. Taking just about a week long, we’ll be in and out of your kitchen before you know it. Our process is done in two simple steps: 1. In your house and 2. In our shop.

In-home:

At your home, we will spend 2-3 days in your kitchen coating the cabinet frames. We will remove doors and drawers from the frames and tape off your kitchen. We will then clean, hand-sand, repair cracks and blemishes, caulk, and then spray the finish on the exterior surface of the frames. The best part? Your kitchen is still usable the entire time.

In-shop:

At our shop, we will refinish your cabinet doors and drawer fronts in the same way we did your cabinet frames. All of the pieces will receive three coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings, applied in our containment-free spray booth. Once this is done, we head back to your home to install them. We can also install any new hardware you’d like as well.

How to Make Your Kitchen Feel like Summer All Year Long

If you don’t have a beach house but want to feel like you’re at a water-side oasis everyday, a simple kitchen update could be all it takes. From cool toned walls and decor to villa vibes, here are all the ways you can achieve your dream kitchen with summer vibes all year round.

Summer Kitchen Ideas

Many people associate the idea of summer with the beach and the water. If you want to make your kitchen resemble those summer months all year long, consider turning it into your own little beach oasis.

Switch up the backsplash

If your backsplash is a little bland right now, you can instantly make it more summery by adding some color to it. Did you know you can update your backsplash without tearing it out too? Freshome.com suggests adding a coat of paint to your backsplash if you like the material but don’t like the color. Adding blue colors to the backsplash or going with yellows and tans can be a simple way to feel like you’re surrounded by water and sand. If rustic beach cabins are more your style, they also suggest incorporating wood to your backsplash. Check out more of their ideas to update your backsplash — you’ll see how simple it can be!

Incorporate coastal colors

Use shades of blue to bring a pop of summer to your kitchen in a quick and easy way. You can make simple changes by painting your kitchen walls, or even refinishing your kitchen cabinets. Our budget-friendly refinishing process is an easy way to add those cool-toned colors to your kitchen cabinets. How? We do it in just two simple steps.

ON-SITE: We’ll be in your kitchen for the first couple of days. Beginning by taping everything off to protect your belongings, we then remove the cabinet doors and drawers. After that, we then coat your cabinet frames. We wash, hand-sand, prime, repair cracks and blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish on all of the exterior surfaces of your cabinet frames. You can have teal, navy, or whatever shade of cabinets you desire for your summer kitchen in less than a week!

OFF-SITE: Next, we’ll go to our shop with your doors and drawer fronts. They will go through the same stages as your cabinet frames. All of the pieces will then receive three coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings, all applied in our contaminate-free spray booth. Once completed, we head back to your home and reinstall the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, as well as any new knobs and handles you request. That’s it!

Add coastal hardware

A fun way to instantly give your kitchen a beach update is to add coastal cabinet and drawer knobs. You can find pieces with mermaids, starfish, turtles, anchors, and more that can instantly leave a beach-effect on your kitchen every day of the year. If that’s not your style, you can opt for plain hardware that is a solid color that will perfectly compliment your new cabinet color. If you want to find inspiration for your beach-y hardware, look at all of these options on Wayfair.

More bright decor

If you’re not ready to fully transition your kitchen into looking like it’s located beachside, then consider adding bright colored decor. Again, for this theme, we suggest sticking to more cool-toned colors. You can add bright rugs, colorful flowers, or coastal artwork to easily begin the transition of updating your kitchen. If you want to take this a step further, brighten up your appliances too! You can find appliances of all colors too. An idea? Keep the cabinets and walls white and add colorful appliances – like a turquoise coffee pot or a teal toaster to instantly brighten your countertops up.

Add greenery

By adding palm-leaved plants or other large green plants, you can make it seem like the sand is right outside your back door. Plants also have a lot of health benefits too! They can help reduce carbon dioxide levels and pollutants, purify the air, and just make breathing easier for you all the way around. Additionally, they’ve been known to boost moods too! If you aren’t completely sold on the health benefits of adding plants in, click here

Feel the Heat with Summit Cabinet Coatings

If you want to commit to making your kitchen feel like a beach house all year long, contact our team here at Summit Cabinet Coatings. We can work with you to transform your kitchen cabinets into something you’ll love – whether it’s in July or December. Call today for a FREE estimate: (970)-282-9856.

Different Ways to Update Your Kitchen

Whether you’re looking to fully update your kitchen or just incorporate small changes, you have options. We can get tired of looking at the same old space, so if that’s you too, keep reading!

There is a lot you can do for your kitchen to freshen it up and bring it back to life. If you’re tired of the same old kitchen, here are some different ways to give it a much-needed update.

Different Ways to Update Your Kitchen

Swap out your dinnerware

A fun way to spice up your kitchen is to change out your dinnerware. You can change it with the seasons, occasions, or for no reason at all. If you’re wanting your kitchen to have a modern flare, try some sleek all-white plates. To change it up and have a mediterranean feel, look for dinnerware that has blue and yellow detail, like this set! You don’t have to go out and purchase many different sets right away, some of our tips: mix and match sets, accumulate over time, and have fun with it! There’s no right or wrong way to swap dinnerware.

Update your utensils

Another quick way to freshen things up in your kitchen is to change out the silverware you use each day. Instead of traditional silverware, opt for different colors. You can find silverware in all kinds of colors, from matte-black to bright rainbow colors. Changing out your utensils every now and then, much like the dinnerware, keeps them from being overused and helps keep them usable for longer. Plus, you won’t get bored looking at the same silverware each day!

Hang things on the walls

Art has the ability to transform a space. From adding paintings with abstract art to adding framed photos of your family, you can instantly enhance a space. We also love incorporating mirrors into our kitchen space. Not only does it help feel a blank wall, but adding mirrors can also make a space feel brighter and larger. If you want to add more art on more than just the walls, try framing motivational quotes or phrases and putting them in frames on the counter. You can change these up with the seasons, like adding lyrics to a Christmas song in December or something patriotic for the 4th of July. There’s no limit to what you can do!

Add a rug

Rugs are another way you can add dimension and color to your dull kitchen. From runners to large area rugs, you can find a rug that best fits your space. Rugs also help provide cushion, so whether you’re standing for long periods of time preparing a meal or doing the dishes, you can remain comfortable. Additionally, rugs can also help with noise pollution according to Forbes. If you have hardwood floors or tile in your kitchen, adding a rug can help absorb unwanted sound and improve acoustics in your space!

Increase lighting

When you don’t have enough lighting in your kitchen, it’s easy for the space to become dark and dreary. Brighten up your space by adding more light sources, like more overhead lighting or lamps. Like we mentioned above, adding a mirror is another way to help light bounce and brighten up your space. More lighting can help you see recipes better or find things in your pantry and cabinets easier, which is a win/win.

Refinish cabinets

If you find that you’ve tried all of these tips and more but still don’t have the kitchen you’re dreaming of, try simply refinishing your kitchen cabinets with our team here at Summit Cabinet Coatings. Our refinishing process is simple, and we’ll be out of your kitchen in under a week. Refinishing your cabinets is the best way to update your kitchen without completely tearing your cabinets out and adding new ones. You can choose any color and finish you want to truly make it a space you love. From brightening things up with a fun color, like teal cabinets, or modernizing with all-white, we can accommodate whatever you’re looking for.

8 Ways to Clean, Declutter, and Organize Your Kitchen Cabinets

It doesn’t take long for our kitchen cabinets to become a disorganized mess. Once you know the organizational method that works for you, it’s easy to keep your kitchen clean and organized. Making sure that your cabinets stay clean and organized is an easy way to protect their longevity. If you’re not sure what method works best for you, here are 8 ways to clean, declutter, and organize your kitchen cabinets.

8 Ways to Clean, Declutter, and Organize Your Kitchen Cabinets

1.Use storage bins

For those cabinets that store food and panty items, try incorporating bins. Not only will this help your cabinets appear more neat and organized, but it will also look pretty! Bins are a great way to find exactly what you’re wanting every time you open up the cabinet door. Reduce clutter by containing items that otherwise spread all over the shelves, like bags of snacks, towels, and more.

2.Stack your shelves

Have you ever been annoyed by not being able to fit everything on the bottom of the shelf, but you still have space above your items to fill before the next shelf starts? Us too. Try stacking things on your shelves. You can find smaller plastic shelves that fit within your space to help you stack things like bowls, plates, and cups on top of one another without them all falling over. If you don’t know where to look for these, here are some options from Bed Bath & Beyond

3.Lazy Susans

This invention is great for helping make the most of your space without having to fumble to look for what you need. Rather than having spices fall over or have cans hiding in the very back of your cabinet, incorporate a Lazy Susan. With this organizer, you put things on a round turntable that you can easily spin around to find what you’re looking for. In addition, having everything on one easy organizer can help clear up clutter and look more pleasing to the eye.

4.Wipe inside of cabinets down monthly

Life gets busy and we can forget just how gross our cabinets can get. We recommend cleaning out all your cabinets once a month and wiping them down to keep everything tidy and clean. This is also a great time to reorganize if things have gotten a little messy during day-to-day life.

5.Don’t forget the drawers

If you’re like us, you more than likely have a junk drawer somewhere in the kitchen. You know, the drawer that accumulates unopened sauces from restaurants or plasticware that was never used. Instead of just throwing them in there, use drawer organizers. You can find these at your local Target or WalMart, and they’re great for keeping things compartmentalized. You can use these organizers for every drawer in your kitchen. From the ones that hold silverware, to the ones that hold measuring spoons and more, these are a great addition to anyone’s kitchen.

6.Sliding storage drawers

If you have a tough time reaching pots, pans, or Tupperware that are all stacked on top of one another, look into sliding storage. Here is a great option from The Container Store. This will be more convenient for you as you go to get things out or put things up, and it also keeps your cabinets organized and clean.

7.Clean the outside of cabinets

Just like cleaning the inside of your cabinets is important, it’s also important to clean the outside on the doors and drawer fronts. While we’re cooking, things can get splashed up onto them or dirty fingers can go to open them when we need something while cooking. This means overtime they can get filthy. Thoroughly wiping them down daily will help keep your kitchen clean and preserve the lifespan and quality of your cabinets. When food gets caked on for months, it can rip off the finishing when you finally go to clean it. Wiping them down daily helps avoid this problem.

8.Use airtight clear containers for food storage

In your pantry area, empty food from their original package and store dry goods in clear, airtight containers to really give your kitchen an organized, crisp clean feel. When you do this, be sure to clearly label your containers so you never forget what you put in them. This jar container method can help you store more in your space, and it looks better than the store-bought packaging too.

How to Make the Most of the Kitchen You Have

Completely renovating a kitchen can be expensive and keep you from using your kitchen for months. Instead of fully redoing your kitchen, consider the benefits of refinishing your kitchen cabinets and making smaller changes. Here’s how to make the most of the kitchen you have, and why your wallet will thank you for it!

If You Have a Small Kitchen

There are ways to make your kitchen feel bigger if that’s what you’re wanting without tearing down walls and ripping your cabinets out. Here are some of our favorite ways that you can make your kitchen appear larger:

  • Choose brighter colors: A quick and easy way to make your kitchen feel bigger is to pick light, bright colors to have throughout your kitchen. Lighter colors can help open up a space and make it seem more free flowing, whereas darker colors tend to make rooms feel smaller. This simple trick is an easy way to open things up. If you want to really commit to this option, have your walls and cabinets both transitioned to light colors. Our refinishing process can easily brighten up your kitchen cabinets in under a week!
  • Add mirrors: people oftentimes don’t think about adding mirrors into the kitchen as a normal decor choice, but do it! Adding mirrors to your kitchen can help trick the eye into thinking your kitchen is bigger than really is. Apartment Therapy offers several unique ideas to incorporate mirrors to help your spaces look bigger. One of their tricks? Try a mirror behind the stove. This area of the kitchen is usually one of the darkest, so placing a mirror back there will help bounce the light to make the space seem lighter and larger. Though it’s bound to get dirty from time to time, mirrors are easy to clean making this a good option!
  • Add lights: adding more lightening will help brighten the space up along with updating the color of your kitchen. Try adding hanging lights and lamps to let more light in.

If You Have a Crowded Kitchen

Kitchens can easily accumulate a lot of items with no place to go. Whether it’s getting new appliances for weddings or Christmas or seeing an influencer using something cool on Instagram and you want it, we easily gather up a lot of kitchen tools. If you find that you lack space in your kitchen, try these tips:

  • Incorporate an island: this might seem counterintuitive by adding more things into your kitchen, but this trick can help make a space seem bigger. When you lack storage, a lot of your kitchen appliances find themselves at home on countertops, which cause clutter. Clutter can make a space seem much smaller, faster. If you add something like an island, permanently or on wheels, you’ll have much more storage and countertop space which can instantly make the space look more roomy.
  • Clean and organize: a great way to improve a crowded kitchen is to organize, organize, organize! Go through every cabinet and search for ways to organize what’s in them. You can find a number of ways online that teach you how to properly store things in an organized manner. Rather than throwing pots and pans and lids in a cabinet, give them an assigned spot to go. You’ll be surprised how much cabinet space you’ll clear up! Another way to add more space to your kitchen is to clean out junk drawers. Most of the time, junk drawers contain things that don’t belong in the kitchen in the first place. Cleaning these out will help give you more space to put kitchen-belonging items.
  • Add hanging storage: if you run out of cabinet space, add hanging storage. You can find neat storage options, like this pots and pans hanger, to free up space in cabinets. If you need inspiration, check out these ideas from Good Housekeeping

Should You Refinish Your Kitchen to be Bright and Bold?

Should you refinish your kitchen to be bright and bold? Or, should you leave your cabinets dark? It’s been proven we’re more productive when we’re in bright spaces, but how can you brighten your kitchen without it being too much?

Bright Colors and Mood

Different colors make us all feel different ways. According to Verywell Mind, colors are a powerful communication tool that can influence mood and physiological reactions. Alternatively, they mention, some colors have been associated with high blood pressure and eyestrain.

Everyone perceives colors differently, but some have a general meaning that most people associate them with. In most cases, colors are separated in two different categories: cool and warm tones. Cool tones include blues, purples, and greens. On the other side of the spectrum, warm colors include reds, oranges, and yellows.

For some people, warm colors can provide feelings of comfort. For others, warmer colors can lead people to feel irritable, angry, and hostile. Cool colors can be calming for people and help them feel at peace, while for others it can bring on feelings of sadness.

Bright Colors in the Home

Long gone are the days that bright colors are only reserved for children’s rooms. There are ways to incorporate bright colors throughout your entire home in a way that still feels mature. A good rule of thumb is to not go all bright everywhere. If you’re going to have bright walls, consider keeping the furniture and decorations neutral. On the other hand, if you want to use bright fun rugs and accessories, keep the walls and cabinets neutral.

If your kitchen is feeling too dark and you want to brighten things up, The Kitchn offer these 10 tips:

1.Put up a mirror: this will help create the illusion of more light and space

2.Add more overhead lighting: this can be as simple as adding a clamp lamp overhead

3.Use brighter lights: switch out your lightbulbs to be at least 80-100 watts

4.Try pendant lights: the further down lights hang, the brighter it will make the space

5.Add under the cabinet lights: you can find LED light bars and other similar options that you can attach to the cabinets to help brighten up those dark crevices

6.More pops of color: the easiest way to brighten the kitchen is to add fun splashes of color through the dish towels you have, adding art, or colorful curtains

7.Create contrast with accents: make one part of your kitchen the focal point, like your island or a set of cabinet and add fun colors to it

8.Add metallics to reflect light: having stainless steel appliances will attract light to brighten things up

9.Have a light backsplash: using light, bright colors for the backsplash will help with contrast and brightness

10.Paint dark cabinets: did you know most people prefer white cabinets to dark wood? If you want to lighten up your kitchen, change them up! We can help, we’ll tell you how below.

Refinishing Dark Cabinets

If you want to easily brighten up your kitchen, we recommend refinishing your kitchen cabinets. Here at Summit Cabinet Coatings, we can have your cabinets refinished in under a week. The best part? You can still use your kitchen the entire time. Rather than the expensive option of totally renovating your kitchen, refinishing cabinets is an easy way to change up the color and finish of your kitchen cabinets. Here’s the process in two simple steps:

ON-SITE:

The on-site process means our team will be in your home. We begin by spending about two or three days in your kitchen coating the cabinet frames. We will remove the existing cabinet doors and drawers from the cabinet frames and tape off the entire kitchen. Once we’ve taped off the kitchen, we will wash, hand-sand, prime, repair any blemishes and flaws, caulk, then spray the finish onto the exterior surfaces of the frames.

OFF-SITE:

This part of the process is when we take the drawer fronts and doors to our shop and put them through the same process as the cabinet frames. All of the pieces will receive three coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings, which are applied in our contaminant-free spray booth.

To finish the refinishing process, we take everything back and reinstall the doors and drawer fronts at your home. If you wish to have new knobs and handles installed, we can help complete the process by doing that as well.

No Working Blues: Refinish Your Home Office Cabinets

If you find that you dread going to work in your home office, try refinishing your office space cabinets to bring things back to life! Home offices have changed over the years and have proved that having a quality work environment increases productivity. If you need a little pep back in your work-from-home step, here’s how refinishing your office cabinets could do just that.

What You Should Have in Your Home Office

Your work-from-home space should be a space in your home that you can be productive in. So, what makes a good home office? Here are some recommendations from Small Business Trends to consider:

Make sure you have good lighting

You don’t want to work in a dark and dreary space that will be more likely to put you into nap mode. If possible, they recommend setting your desk up by a window so you can soak in more natural light. However, if you can’t do that, don’t worry. Instead, make sure you have enough light in the space to make it feel bright, not only so you can see your work better, but so you feel more productive too!

A good desk and chair

We know that sitting all day is good for us, but work has to get done. If you’re looking to take your home office to the next level, get an adjustable desk. This will allow you to switch from working sitting down to standing up in a matter of seconds. Sitting down all day can cause back aches and pains, but it’s also been linked to weight gain, mood problems, and more according to Healthline. Along with your desk, you should have a quality chair. Do your research to find out what chair would be best for your back and health.

Decor and organization

An office isn’t all about the decorations, but adding in things like plants, filing cabinets for storage, hanging calendars, and more can help elevate your home workspace. One tip we recommend is adding pictures of your family friends, hanging up motivational quotes, and other inspirational decorations that will help keep you going when the days get long. Don’t just place a computer in a room and call it an office, have fun with it!

Updating In-Office Cabinets

If your home office came already supplied with cabinets, but they’re not what you like, our team here at Summit Cabinet Coatings can help you refinish them. Are your office cabinets dark wood that makes the space feel like a dungeon? Are they a vintage color that just doesn’t work with your modern taste? We can help with our simple, budget-friendly, refinishing process.

How it Works

The process will take up to 5 days, but you can still use your space the entire time if needed. First, our team will come out to your home to tape off the room, coat the cabinet frames, and remove the doors and drawers. We will then wash, hand-sand, prime, repair cracks and blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish you choose onto the exterior surfaces of the frames.

Next, we head back to our shop. Here, we will have your cabinet doors and drawers go through the same process as the exteriors. Each piece will then receive three coats of our durable, commercial-grade acrylic coatings.

Once that’s complete, we head back to your home to reinstall the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. We will also update any hardware, like knobs and handles, to officially complete the process.

Finishing Options

You have plenty of choices when it comes to choosing the finish you desire for your home office cabinets. First and most importantly, what’s the aesthetic you’re going for? If you’re wanting a cottage-like feel, then a rustic finish might be for you. If you want an antique feel, we might recommend the rub through technique. Or, if you’re just feeling a simple refresh, we can go with a solid finish. The choice is completely up to you!

Your home office should be a space you feel productive and motivated in. If your current setup isn’t doing that for you, a simple update to your cabinets could be all it takes to create a space you love.

How to Choose the Right Cabinet Finish in Your Kitchen

Refinishing the cabinets can help update your kitchen and transform it to be a space in your home that you’ve always dreamed of, but how do you know what finish is right for you? Here are our most common finishes at Summit Cabinet Coatings, and how to tell if they’ll fit the aesthetic you’re looking for.

Different Cabinet Refinishing Finishes

 Solid

This is the most simple finish of all the options. When you choose this option, you’ll get a modern look that’s simple. This is ideal if you’re wanting to try a statement black-splash, countertop, or floor. If your original kitchen cabinets are a wood finish right now, you can choose to keep that original grain texture, or we can fill it in to appear totally smooth – the option is yours!

Glazing

This unique technique highlights the grain in your original cabinets and adds a multi-dimensional look to your new finish. Oftentimes called a “rub” or “wash,” this finish is possible by hand-rubbing the glaze into the wood’s natural grain once the cabinets are coated. If there’s no original grain, our team will produce a faux wood effect. This finish can be done in a variety of tones ranging from light to heavy. The color is up to you, however we most often see our clients choose to use mocha, which is a light brown color. We also see:

  • Van Dyke Brown (a dark brown)
  • Black
  • Taupe
  • Gray

Other custom tones are also available.

Pinstriping

This accent can be done in addition to glazing or can be done alone with a solid color. The pinstriping finish gets its name because it has an accent line applied in the edges of the doors. You can get creative with your new cabinet finish. On our website, we show this finish with a Van Dyke Brown over Swiss Coffee color which gives an elegant look that mimics that of what you’d find in a new cabinet showroom.

Rustic

If you are craving a kitchen that makes you feel like you’ve traveled to a quaint beach cottage or Tuscan village, this is the finish you’ll want. We give your cabinets a rustic finish by partnering glazing with the pinstriping technique, which helps give it that antiqued look. HGTV explains the rustic look embodies “the country and lifestyle with large cabinets, warm colors, and lots of wood with interesting character.” If this is a feel you want for your kitchen, we can walk you through what to expect.

Rub Through

The rub through finish provides an accent by sanding through the finish on random edges and imperfections before applying the protective top coat. Sometimes, this effect is used with glazing. The glazing technique can also be known as “antiquing” in the cabinet world, but it is a separate effect from the rub through. However, partnered together you can get those accent cabinets that make your kitchen stand out. If you have solid floors and countertops and need a little “wow” factor added to your kitchen, consider incorporating this style. We most often complete this style for clients who have a dark brown or black island, which serves as an accent to the rest of your kitchen cabinets.

The Refinishing Process

Once you have an idea of what finish you want for your cabinets, the process can begin. The refinishing process happens in less than a week, and you can still use your kitchen the entire time. The simple process happens in two easy steps: on-site and off-site.

The on-site process means our team will be in your home. We start by spending two to three days in your kitchen coating the cabinet frames. We start by removing the existing cabinet doors and drawers from the cabinet frames and taping off the entire kitchen. Once we’ve taped off the kitchen, we will wash, hand-sand, prime, repair any blemishes and flaws, caulk, then spray the finish onto the exterior surfaces of the frames.

The off-site portion of the process is when we take the drawer fronts and doors to put them through the same process as the cabinet frames. All of the pieces will receive three coats of our commercial-grade acrylic coatings, which are applied in our contaminant-free spray booth. Once we complete the drawer fronts and cabinet doors, we will reinstall them in your kitchen. If you wish to have new knobs and handles installed, we can help complete the process by doing that as well.

Refinishing Your Bathroom Vanity

Not only do we help update your kitchen, but if your bathroom has wood cabinets, we can do those too! Using a similar process, the team here at Summit Cabinet Coatings can help freshen up the bathroom you use each and every day. The benefits of refinishing your bathroom vanity include allowing you to modernize, save money, and feel like you’re in a brand new room.

The Importance of the Bathroom

Your bathroom is where you get ready to tackle your day and get ready for rest at night. When you have an outdated bathroom, you might not be making the most of your space. If you’re looking to revitalize your bathroom, here are some things to keep in the back of your mind.

The shower and tub

Focus on organization and tying in your bathroom theme here. Get a fun shower curtain that incorporates the colors or theme you want your bathroom to have. If the rest of your bathroom is going to be minimalistic, try a pop of color on your curtain. Inside your shower, make sure you are organized. Having a tidy shower will help you feel more at ease when you’re starting or ending your day. There are shower caddies and other hardware you can purchase to hang and sit in the shower to help keep things in set spaces. This will also help prevent shampoo or body wash from dripping all over the sides of the tub.

 The floors

Having tile or hardwood in the bathroom is important. Say goodbye to the carpet! Carpet in bathrooms creates a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Every time you shower with carpet in the room you are risking mold growth according to Trade Winds Imports. Instead, consider incorporating hard floor surfaces and utilizing shower mats. This is another way to get more color into your bathroom.

Storage

If you don’t have enough storage in your bathroom, try incorporating cute carts or adding floating shelves to help hold things like hand towels, makeup, deodorants or cologne. To help save space on top of the cabinets near the sink, find a toothbrush holder that will also hold your toothpaste. Get creative with your storage to optimize your space. Check out these creative ideas from overstock.com.

The vanity

If you have cabinets in your bathroom, consider having them refinished. Rather than removing them completely, you can save time and money by only refinishing them. Refinishing the cabinets is a way to update and renew your space using what you already have in place. You can have your cabinets transformed using any color you can imagine, and you can also update the door and drawer knobs to spruce it up further.

The Refinishing Process

One of the best parts of the refinishing process is that your bathroom will still remain usable. In total, the process typically takes less than a week. The process is done in two easy steps:

  • ON-SITE: During the first phase, Summit Cabinet Coatings will spend two to three days in your bathroom coating your cabinet frames. They will begin by removing the existing cabinet doors and drawers from the cabinet frames and taping off the rest of your bathroom to keep everything else safe. Then, they will wash, hand-sand, prime, repair blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish on the exterior surfaces of your cabinet frames.
  • OFF-SITE: The second phase happens out of your home and at the Summit shop. It’s at the shop that they will take the doors and drawer fronts through the same stages of preparation to make sure they get a strong and furniture-grade finish. To end, your bathroom doors and drawers will receive three coats of commercial-grade acrylic coatings, all applied in the Summit Cabinet Coatings contaminant-free spray booth. Once everything is completed, the doors and drawers will head back to your bathroom. The team will install the doors and drawers, along with any knobs and handles you want to finish the process.

If you are looking to totally change up your cabinet doors and drawers, Summit Cabinet Coatings does also offer new ones to help change up your door styles and/or eliminate grain entirely. This is the refacing process, and it is another way that you can find the bathroom you’re looking for at a fraction of the cost.

How to Brighten Your Kitchen For Spring

Spring has officially started. Most people have begun spring cleaning and getting their homes freshened up. If you’re looking to put a spring touch on your kitchen, you’ve got several options to do just that. Use these tips to brighten things up and get your kitchen ready for spring and summer!

How to Decorate Your Kitchen for Spring

 Add Flowers

Flowers are a spring staple and can instantly brighten up your space. In spring, there are many options available. Some flowers that are in season during the spring are:

  • Crocus: these low-growing flowers resemble jewels and add a beautiful touch of purple, white, yellow, and more to your home during the spring.
  • Daffodil: this fan-favorite flower will instantly bring spring cheer to your kitchen with it’s bloom and bright pop of color. Tip: try the gold!
  • Tulip: this flower’s bright colors scream “spring!” There are plenty of colors and shapes of tulips so you can find what works best with the color scheme you’re working with.

Flowers offer many benefits in addition to decorating your home, like boosting your mood. If you need to put a little pep in your kitchen to get it ready for spring, it can also help improve how you’re feeling.

Have a Seasonal Food and Beverage Station

The next spring decor tip for your kitchen is to have a seasonal food and beverage station. Set up a little nook in your kitchen to serve fun, springtime food and drinks to your family and friends. You can try pastel-colored M&Ms, fruits and veggies like carrots or strawberries, and fun drinks like lemonade (or a bright-colored cocktail for the adults!) You can also put out garnishes for the drinks like lemon slices and mint. These fun colors coming from foods and drinks will help instantly brighten your kitchen for a short amount of time, so this is best if you’re in a pinch! This is the most high-maintenance option, however, as you’ll have to put the food and drinks away each day.

Incorporate Bright Colors

Add colors where it’s easy. You might not want to commit to painting a wall a bright color, but you can add springtime colors throughout your kitchen by using bright linens, kitchen mats, and more to transform your kitchen to being a springtime dream. These springtime colors can also translate easily into summer decor, so you’ll get two seasons of use out of these items.

Seasonal Posters

You can find everything online. If you have a spare frame lying around, try getting online to find an inspirational quote or seasonal saying to print out. Having this frame sit on your kitchen counter is a simple, yet effective, way to decorate your kitchen for spring. If you are having a tough time finding one you like, try using Pinterest, or, make it a fun family activity and have your kids each design one!

More Permanent Decor Options

If you want a brighter kitchen all year ‘round, call Summit Cabinet Coatings to have your cabinets refinished. Refinishing kitchen cabinets is a cost-effective and simple process that will instantly bring your kitchen back to life. With a number of colors of finishes, you can instantly turn your dark wood cabinets into bright white. If you want to do a brighter springtime color, we can do that too! After this, we then head back to the Summit Cabinet Coatings shop to:

  • Put the drawers and door fronts through the same process in a containment-free spray booth
  • Once complete, we head back to your home to reinstall them along with any new knobs or handles you need

How Your Cabinet Finishes Can Match Specific Styles

Do you sit in your kitchen at breakfast and dream of eating a croissant in a French-style kitchen? Are you sitting in your kitchen at dinner eating pasta in a Tuscan village? Sometimes we wish our kitchen could transport us into a different place – and refinishing your kitchen cabinets could be what helps you do that. Learn how you can match specific styles by refinishing.

If you have a specific kitchen style you’re dreaming of, we can make it happen with cabinet refinishing. From Mediterranean-style to a cottage kitchen, sometimes all that’s needed is to refinish your kitchen cabinets to get your kitchen to fit the style you like. Here are some trending kitchen styles that you can draw inspiration from.

If you want…

A Tuscan Kitchen

For a Tuscan-style kitchen, you’ll want warm, sunny tones to transport you to Tuscany. HGTV describes this style as rich and earthy, with palettes that pay tribute to the land and sky. When refinishing your kitchen cabinets, think about using a yellow-based color. To incorporate a Tuscan theme the colors need to be creamy and gold-like in tone. However, some people choose to use some maroon-based colors. Think burgundy, gold, and other warm tones to bring your kitchen to life in a Tuscan way.

A Modern Kitchen

If you’re looking for a sleek and modern design, try this kitchen style. Contemporary styles incorporate a pop of color with whimsical details, according to Good Housekeeping. A modern kitchen can be all white with a bright blue accent wall or a black kitchen with bright white cabinets. You can put whatever twist on a modern kitchen you want! Using websites like Pinterest can help you get inspiration to create your own dream kitchen.

A French Kitchen

If you’re dreaming of a kitchen that makes you feel like you’re in France, try incorporating rustic colors and accents. Off-white cabinets go great in a French-inspired kitchen. Along with wood floors and statement light pieces, you can have that French-themed kitchen you’re dreaming of sooner rather than later.

Refinishing Cabinets

To get a kitchen with the design you want, sometimes all it might take is refinishing your kitchen cabinets. Refinishing cabinets is a simple, cost-effective process that can get you the kitchen of your dreams at a fraction of the cost. You have the ability to make your cabinets any color you want with cabinet refinishing.

The Process

Refinishing your cabinets is a simple process that doesn’t take any longer than a week. Here’s the process that takes place in two steps:

  • ON-SITE: During the first phase, Summit Cabinet Coatings will spend two to three days in your kitchen coating your cabinet frames. We begin by removing the existing cabinet doors and drawers from the cabinet frames and taping off the rest of your kitchen. Then, we will wash, hand-sand, prime, repair blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish on the exterior surfaces of your cabinet frames.
  • OFF-SITE: The second phase happens out of your kitchen at our shop. Here we take the doors and drawer fronts through the same stages of preparation to make sure they get a strong and furniture-grade finish. To end, they’ll receive three coats of commercial-grade acrylic coatings, all applied in our contaminant-free spray booth. Once everything is completed, we head back to your kitchen one last time to install the doors and drawers, along with any knobs and handles needed to end the process.

The benefits to refinishing include cheaper cost, but it also doesn’t kick you out of your kitchen. Your kitchen will still be usable, and you won’t have to worry about how you’re going to cook for your family like you would when completely starting over with new cabinets.

If you’re not happy with your cabinet doors and drawers, we offer new ones to help change up your door styles and/or eliminate grain entirely. This is another way we can help you get the kitchen style you want. This allows the cost advantage of refinishing cabinets with the benefits of refacing them, but without the higher cost.

When Are My Cabinets Unrepairable?

Jim and Jen Worden, owners of Summit Cabinet Coatings, believe that choosing to repair and refinish cabinets is a beautiful and convenient way to give your kitchen a little life again. After years of holding pots and pans and getting splashed and dirtied by all sorts of food and liquids, life can take a toll on our kitchen cabinets.

We ask a lot out of our cabinets. They have to be able to endure storing all of our kitchen dishes and cookware while standing the test of time. Plus, we’d also like them to be pleasing to the eye. This is where refinishing cabinets come into play! The team at Summit Cabinet Coatings is able to take your worn down cabinets and refresh them up — and most of the time they can do just that. Though it doesn’t happen often, there are traits you need to look out for before deciding if refinishing kitchen cabinets is for you or if they’re too beyond repair.

 What’s the Damage?

Before you decide on the best course of action to take for your kitchen renovation, take a look at the state of your current cabinets. Here’s what we suggest looking for before making your decision:

  • Look for structural damage inside each cabinet: Make note of any cracks or loose joints you see. Tip: Poke the inside of the cabinets with something like a knife to find soft areas, which could signal rotting or other types of damage.
  • Check stability: Check to see that all cabinets are still securely attached to the walls and to each other.
  • Inspect lower cabinets: Take a look at your lower cabinets, especially near the sink, for signs of water damage. If they’re sagging, that signals water damage, which means refinishing might not be an option.
  • Face frames: If your cabinets have face frames, which is what is most common in America, make sure they’re still securely attached to the cabinets and their edges are still flat and smooth in texture. Minor holes and small cracks can be repaired, but if they’re split in two they can’t be.
  • Examine drawers: They should roll out and back in smoothly when you open and shut them. When inspecting, also remove the drawers and check their entire condition. There should be no signs of cracks and siding should be firmly attached. Look for any missing fasteners or worn out parts.

Refinishing Cabinets

If after inspection you realize you’re good to go with cabinet refinishing, and that your current cabinets aren’t unrepairable, here’s the process. Summit Cabinet Coatings has a non-intrusive method for refinishing your kitchen cabinets. Oftentimes, even old and extremely run down cabinets can be livened up just by the simple refinishing process.

In total, the process takes about 5 days, but your kitchen will remain usable the entire time. The first two to three days will take place in your kitchen, where the team will remove all cabinet doors and drawers and tape off the kitchen.

Then, they will wash, hand-sand, prime, repair minor blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish onto the exterior cabinet frame surfaces.

The rest of the process will take place at the Summit shop. This is where the drawers and doors will go through the same stages as above, but in the shop’s containment-free spray booth. Once the drawers and cabinets are refinished, they will be taken back to your kitchen.

The process ends with the reinstallation of the cabinet doors and drawers. These will also be updated with any wanted new knobs/handles at this time.

If you’re tired of the style and grain of your current cabinet doors and drawer fronts, we offer new cabinet door and drawer options. This option combines the best of both worlds – refinishing and refacing – all at a fraction of the cost.

Refinishing Benefits

The top benefit of refinishing your cabinets is the cost. According to Home Advisor, refinishing your kitchen cabinets is far more affordable than replacing them. If you’re still not entirely convinced but your cabinets are candidates for refinishing, here are the benefits of refinishing with Summit Cabinet Coatings:

  • The entire process is done in five days or less
  • Our finishes are stain resistant and can come in whatever color you desire (yes, any color!)
  • The surfaces are easier to clean after refinishing
  • The new finish will protect cabinets from water damage
  • We guarantee that the coating will not crack, peel, or fade

The Kitchen of Your Dreams is Already There

Sometimes what we want is right in front of us. The kitchen of your dreams could be sitting right there in front of you. To get the kitchen you’ve been dreaming of, all it might take is updating your kitchen cabinets. When you work with Summit Cabinet Coatings to refinish your kitchen cabinets, you’ll see that your kitchen was already capable of giving you the aesthetic you were looking for.

Working With Cabinets You Have

You don’t have to wipe out your current cabinets and start fresh to get the kitchen you’re looking for. With the many refinishing options available, you can transform your kitchen with the same cabinets already in place. You can refinish your cabinets to fit most any style you’re dreaming of, but some of the most common styles according to HGTV are:

  • Country farmhouse: this style feels like a getaway vacation into the country even when you’re located right in the city. Using farmhouse tables and other furniture of the sort, you can help create a lived-in look that embodies country charm.
  • Modern: the updated, chic modern style of a kitchen embodies minimalism. Using reflective services and high-tech material, it’s easy to transform any kitchen to look more modern and luxurious. Using highly polished woods and no extra frills, your kitchen can look updated and modern in no time.
  • Cottage charm: Updating your kitchen to cottage charm can help the style of your home feel more quaint and homelike. This style is used to help kitchens feel cozy by using imperfect finishes to make it appear more one-of-a-kind.
  • Contemporary: function meets family-friendly with a contemporary style. Using a mix of new and old, this kitchen is the best of both worlds.
  • Mediterranean: Using sun-like colors, aged surfaces, and handmade ceramics, you’ll feel like you’re escaping to a small French villa rather than being in your own kitchen.
  • Coastal: everyone can feel like they’re living on a beach with this kitchen! This concept incorporates large windows, blue, green, and white colors to make it feel like you’re right next to the beach everyday.
  • Old World: immerse yourself in history with the old world style. This style uses dark mahogany finishes with elegant detail to add a historical ambiance to your kitchen.
  • Traditional: if you feel the kitchen is the heart of your home, this style could be for you. This clean, comfortable look is welcoming for friends and family, not only on holidays, but everyday of the year.

What’s the Process?

Home Advisor says cabinets are the largest expense when renovating a kitchen, averaging to be about 29% of the total renovation. Save yourself time and money with refinishing your cabinets instead.

If you’re ready to update your kitchen using the cabinets you’ve already grown accustomed to, it’s a simple process. The team here at Summit Cabinet Coatings will update your cabinets quickly in two parts: on-site and off-site.

On-site: When the process begins, we will spend up to 3 days in your kitchen coating the cabinet frames in place. We start by taking the existing cabinet doors and drawers off their frames and taping off the entire kitchen to keep everything clean. Then, we will wash, hand-sand, prime, repair blemishes, caulk, and spray the finish on all exterior surfaces of the cabinets.

Off-site: Once the process above is complete, we will take the drawers and doors to our shop to go through the same process. All of the pieces will then get three coats of our commercial-grade coatings, all applied in our contaminant-free booth. Once this is done, we will reinstall the drawers and doors in your kitchen, updating any knobs as needed. If you’d like to update cabinet doors and drawers, we offer an option that partners the refinishing method with the benefits of refacing, all at a fraction of the typical cost.

With our non-intrusive method, your kitchen remains clean and usable throughout the week we’re updating. You’ll be able to enjoy your regularly scheduled life while completely transforming your kitchen.
